Taking pictures 2: Panning

Ever wondered how to get action shots like these?

It’s very simple. Set your camera to a low shutter speed(using the AV function) and as you are taking the picture follow the target you’re taking a picture of. For the biker above, they kept him in their viewfinder as he went across their vision. Because they took the picture at a low shutter speed, the rider is in focus while the background is not.
